Abstract:
Embodied intelligence refers to robots or virtual humans that can interact with and perceive their environments, possessing the abilities to autonomously plan, make decisions, act, and execute tasks. It represents the pinnacle of artificial intelligence. In 2022, the development of the large language model ChatGPT by OpenAI marked a significant breakthrough in general AI, drawing renewed attention to embodied intelligence as a leading area of academic research. This paper begins by introducing the characteristics and current state of embodied intelligence, focusing on both the cognitive (brain) and physical (body) technologies involved. It then elaborates on the primary tasks and key technologies underpinning embodied intelligence, including multimodal perception, world cognition and understanding, intelligent autonomous decision-making, and the joint planning of motion and manipulation. Finally, the paper analyzes the main applications and challenges of embodied intelligence, providing insights and future outlooks.
