要旨：
佐賀県伊万里出身で、1899(明治32)年に森永製菓を創業した森永太一郎 (1865-1937) はキリスト教徒であり、彼の日常生活や経営においても、キリスト教の影響が強かった。彼の入信は、渡米中の1890年のことで、洗礼を施したのはアメリカ・メソジスト監督教会に所属したハリス (Merriman Colbert Harris、 1846-1921)であった。ハリスは、1873年に来日し、 新渡戸稲造や内村鑑三ら、札幌農学校の学生を洗礼したことでも著名である。1878年から 1886年までは東京に配属されるとともに、伝道の傍ら、森永の葬儀が
行われた青山学院の前身校の教師などの務め、1904 年から死去するまで青山学院内に居住した。
さて、本考察では、在来知研究の観点から、森永が生まれ育った際の浄土真宗からの影響と、青年期のキリスト教入信との関係について考察するとともに、彼の宗教観の経営への影響の一端についても触れる。
Abstract：
Taichiro MORINAGA (1865-1937), who was born in Imari, Saga Prefecture and founded Morinaga Confectionery in 1899 (Meiji 32), was a Christian, and his daily life and management were strongly influenced by Christianity. Morinaga entered Christianity in 1890 while he was in the United States, and was baptized by Merriman Colbert Harris (1846-1921), who belonged to the Methodist Episcopal Church of America.
In this study, from the perspective of research on indigenous knowledge, I will examine the relationship between Morinaga’s Buddhism as a follower of the Jodo Shinshu sect in his childhood and his Christian beliefs since his youth, and will also examine the influence of Morinaga’s Christian faith on his management.
