要旨：
本文考察近代统计学引入到中国的过程。过去, 这方面的研究十分缺乏、粗糙,大多属于介绍性质的,有的甚至相互转抄,没有第一手资料。这里重点考察清末和民国初期统计学从日本传入我国的过程及其影响。我们的目的是将近代统计学传入我国的过程搞清楚,同时提出一些评论性的看法。日本在近代从欧洲引进统计学的过程中发生了几次争论, 而我国没有发生这种情况,我们认为这是由于两国在近代之前对于统计学以及相关学术的知识积累不同导致的。日本在前近代就与欧洲保持着一定的联系,而我国与欧洲基本上是完全隔绝的。由于地理以及其他方面的原因,19世纪末期中国加强了与日本的联系,很多西方的学术、思想、制度都是从日本引进的,而日本是从欧洲引进的。重要的是,日本在引进的过程中做了一些修正,使之符合本国国情,这就决定了中国近代的一些新知识、新思想、 新技术、新制度在很大程度上受到日本的影响。就统计学而言,直到20世纪20年代都是日本占据主导地位,此后引进了美国的统计学。
Abstract：
This Paper Examines the Introduction of Modern Statistics into China. In the Past, the Research in this Area was Very Lacking and Rough. Most of it was of an Introductory Nature, and Some even Copied from Each other Without First-hand Information. This Paper Focuses on the Introduction of Statistics from Japan to China in Late Qing Dynasty and Early Republic of China and its Influence.
