Title：A Study on the “JENSEN OF GINSENG” in Nieuw Nederlandsch Magazijn and medical knowledge obtained by Inan Taketomi

要旨：
鍋島直正の死去に際し、佐賀の弘道館教授であった武富圯南は東京に書翰を送った。過去、大庭雪斎に 『マガゼイン(Nederlandsch Magazijn)』の「薬用人参」の記事を翻訳させた。直正の病に朝鮮人参を用いようと医師の雪斎、大石良英、島田南嶺、ポンぺらと意見を交換したが、用いなかったと記されている。書翰に見られる朝鮮人参と医学の知識は、佐賀藩医師らの経験に基づくものと言える。ここでは、書翰の情報と「薬用人参」の記事との比較研究を行う。朝鮮人参と広東人参の2種の性質、雪斎と圯南が実験した内容、 朝鮮人参とコレラの治療について論じる。彼らの新たな情報と在来知の融合の試みがわかる。
Abstract：
At death of Naomasa Nabeshima(鍋島直正)、Koudou-Kan’s (弘道館) teacher Inan Taketomi(武富圯南) in Saga wrote a letter to Tokyo. Once、he had asked Sessai Oba(大庭雪斎) to translate into Japanese about GINSENG in Nederlandsch magazijn. He discussed with Sessai、 Ryoei Ôishi(大石良英)、Nanryou Shimada(島田南嶺) and J. Pompe van Meerdervoort that it would be good or not for sick Naomasa to use GINSENG. Finally, they decided not to use it. Those informations of GINSENG and medical knowledge were based on practices of Doctors in Saga-Han. I try to compare that information in the letter with the article of GINSENG in that magazine. In this paper, I will argue on following three points. The first、 is on the two characters of GINSENG; Kanton and Korean. The second, is on the experiment with GINSENG by Sessai and Inan. The last is using GINSENG for curing cholera. I will make clear that their medical practice is an example of trying to mix new information and indigenous knowledge.
